Reading a Forza Horizon 6 photo clue starts with a constant
It is worth saying plainly because it saves people looking for something that is not there: the clue text does not change week to week. Traxion has quoted the same sentence on hunt after hunt, and every entry in our archive where we captured the clue has it verbatim. There is no riddle to decode, no wordplay, no hint hidden in phrasing.
What does change is the picture and the region name on the Playlist entry. The region name is the single most valuable thing you are given — it cuts the map to roughly a tenth before you have looked at the photo at all. Read that first, then open the photo.
Worked example: the one that hinged on hay bales
The Series 3 Winter hunt sat in Hokubu, which is snow country almost everywhere. A photo of snow and a shed narrows nothing. GamesRadar’s writer put the whole difficulty on one detail: “If you don’t know where those big hay bale scarecrows can be found in Forza Horizon 6, then you’re going to have a tough time scouring the region for this treasure chest.”
That is the shape of almost every one of these. The photo contains two kinds of thing: the stuff that describes the whole region — snow, pine, a wooden building — and one object that only exists in a handful of places. The first kind is noise. The hunt is decided by whether you recognise the second kind.
It ended up in a car park by a small garage building on the northwestern side of the Shikisai-no-Oka flower fields, and GamesRadar notes you cannot fast travel directly there — you can only get close. The full entry has the sources.
What our own records show, and what they do not
6 hunts on record, 4 with a location we could source, 2 where we wrote down what the photo actually hinged on. That is a small sample and we are not going to dress it up as a pattern.
Hokubu, Series 3 Winter
GamesRadar’s writer put the difficulty on one detail: the big hay bale scarecrows. If you have not driven past those, the photo is just snow and a shed — which describes most of Hokubu. The chest sits by a small garage building at the car park, overlooking the snow-covered fields.
Nangan, Series 3 Summer
We know the week and the reward for this one and not the spot. Two sources describe a Nangan chest in two different places — Game8 puts it on the shore at the east of the region near the Ford GT Treasure Car, and the write-ups we could not open are reported to put it by the warehouses north-east of the Irokawa Space Centre. Nangan may simply have hosted two hunts in different series. Until we can read both articles ourselves, guessing which one belongs to this week would be worse than leaving it blank.
The honest read on 6 entries is that there is no reliable rule about placement — not “always near a landmark”, not “always off-road”. What repeats is the reading method, not the hiding place.
Three things a Forza Horizon 6 photo clue will not tell you
Which direction you are facing. The shot is framed for looks, not for navigation. A road running left to right in the picture tells you nothing about compass direction, so do not try to match the photo’s angle on the map.
How far off the road it is. The Hokubu chest was in a car park you reach off the highway; that is not visible in a photo cropped tight on the chest. If the surroundings look reachable and you cannot find it, widen out rather than assuming wrong spot.
The season it was shot in. Hokubu is snow-covered year-round, per the region description, so snow in frame is not a season cue there — while in another region it would be. This is why the region name has to be read first: it changes what the picture means.
Do the reading before Thursday
The Playlist rolls over every Thursday at 14:30 UTC and the hunt is replaced. Whether a chest you found but never smashed survives that is something we could not source, so we do not claim it either way — but the hunt itself is gone.
