The FH6 Treasure Hunt this week — where it stands right now
ROLLED OVER — NOT CONFIRMED YET
No sourced location for the current week.
The Playlist has turned over and we have not verified the new chest. That is a statement about our record, not about the game — there may well be a hunt live right now that nobody has published yet. This panel fills in when a location has a source behind it, and not before. The archive still has every week we have managed to document.
Answer expires Thursday 14:30 UTCWeekly, without exception
Finding it, in the order you actually do it
Seven steps, written for someone with the game paused. Where a step rests on something a source states, the source is named under it. Where it is our own advice about how to search, it says so and names nobody, because a suggestion dressed as a rule is the same lie as an invented coordinate.
Open the entry, not a guide
Main Menu → Festival Playlist → the current season → Treasure Hunt. The entry itself carries the photograph and the region name, and the region name is the half of the puzzle nobody writes about, because it removes nine tenths of Japan before you have looked at the picture at all.Source: ZillionGamer — Treasure Hunt locations in Forza Horizon 6
Accept that the entry will not narrow it for you
The entry hands you a photograph and a region name and then leaves you to move around the map yourself — that is the whole of what ZillionGamer’s walkthrough describes it doing, and nothing in it narrows the search further. Time spent waiting for the map to do the narrowing is time lost.Source: ZillionGamer — Treasure Hunt locations in Forza Horizon 6
Read the photograph for the one object that is rare
Split what is in frame into scenery and structure. Snow, a road and a wooden building narrow nothing in a region that is snow, roads and wooden buildings. A specific silhouette — a garage with water tanks, a run of hay bale scarecrows, a line of silos — narrows it to a handful of places. Find the rare object first and ignore the rest of the frame. Our own method — no source claims this, and you should treat it as a habit that works rather than a rule of the game.
Drive to the region, then to the edge of the landmark
Fast travel gets you near, not to it. Every entry we hold where the route was recorded says the same shape of thing: you can reach a nearby node and then have to drive the last stretch, because these chests sit off the road network on purpose. Plan the last kilometre as driving, not as a loading screen. Our own method — no source claims this, and you should treat it as a habit that works rather than a rule of the game.
Search the awkward margin, not the obvious middle
Chests are placed at the seam between two things: a car park between a highway and a service road, a platform above a warehouse floor, the shore past the end of a town. FinalBoss makes the point directly for the Hokubu week — the answer was between the northern highway and the internal white road, and searching the open centre of the flower fields or isolated snowbanks was the wrong move. It also says to put the waypoint on the landmark itself rather than on an assumed chest icon.Source: FinalBoss.io — Hirosaki Castle photo and the Hokubu Treasure Hunt
Drive into the chest
There is no interact prompt and no puzzle at the end of it. You drive directly into the chest to break it open, and the Playlist entry ticks over as it shatters. If you have found the chest and are looking for a button, you are looking for something that does not exist.Source: FinalBoss.io — Hirosaki Castle photo and the Hokubu Treasure Hunt
Check the entry actually ticked before you drive off
Back to the same Playlist screen you started on. This is worth thirty seconds because the chest and the points are different systems — a smashed chest you cannot see any more is not by itself evidence that the entry registered, and after the Thursday rollover there is no way to go back and check. Our own method — no source claims this, and you should treat it as a habit that works rather than a rule of the game.
What changed at the last reset
A weekly page is only worth keeping if it can say what moved, so this section is the delta rather than a restatement. At the most recent 14:30 UTC Thursday the Playlist stepped one slot forward, and everything attached to the outgoing slot went with it: the seasonal championships, the weekly challenges, the points you had part-earned in them, and the Treasure Hunt entry itself. The chest goes with it. The word GamesRadar uses is that the chest becomes unavailable, and that is the word we will use too — nobody we can read has described what happens to it in the world, and “the chest despawns” is a mechanic we would be inventing.
We are now in Series 3 Spring, running 6 Aug to 13 Aug — dates printed in a source, not inferred by us. At the next reset it becomes Series 4 Summer.
What we hold for this specific slot: no confirmed location in our archive — and we are not going to fill it in here instead. The last week of Series 3. Whether the slot has a chest in it is not something we will claim before we can source it.
The part worth internalising is that the map does not merely change decoration. Several regions read completely differently under snow, and a photograph taken in one season can be genuinely unrecognisable in the next — which is why a location from an old week is not a shortcut to a new one even when the region name repeats. Nangan has hosted a chest twice on the record so far, in two different places.
The reset also does something to the search results that is worth understanding, because it explains why this page has the shape it has. Every outlet covering this publishes a new article per week — a separate URL for Hokubu, another for Nangan, another for Ito. That is a reasonable way to run a news desk and a poor way to answer a question that recurs on a seven-day cycle: the answer is spread across a dozen addresses, and the one you land on is whichever week ranked, not the week you are in. This URL does not change when the chest does. Only the body does.
The other thing the reset changes is what the rest of the internet is telling you. Weekly articles get republished with a fresh date on top and, more often than is comfortable, the previous week’s screenshot underneath. Forza Horizon Hub, for one, prints the reset as “09:30 ET, which is 06:30 PT” — both correct for part of the year and an hour out for the rest, because the reset is pinned to UTC and local clocks are not. The reset timer converts the fixed 14:30 UTC into your own zone and tells you whether daylight saving moves it where you live, which is the version that stays true in January.
If you do not get to it before Thursday
The deadline is not a soft one and it is not a rumour. GamesRadar dated it on the way out for the Tokyo City week, writing that the chest would become unavailable from 2:30pm UTC on the followingThursday — the same 14:30 UTC in different dress. Its word for what happens is unavailable: the entry leaves the Playlist. There is no catch-up window, no late completion and nothing to buy that reopens it.
What that costs you in practice is small and specific: 100,000 credits, three Playlist points, 5,000 XP — PC Gamer and GamesRadar both print the XP alongside the credits, and it is the part most write-ups drop — and whatever those points would have contributed toward a reward threshold. That last one is the part worth caring about, because the Playlist pays out at thresholds rather than continuously: in the week we captured it, Forza Horizon Hub listed the weekly cars at 20 and 40 points and the Series cars at 80 and 160. Being a couple of points short of a car at the end of a Series is the outcome people actually regret. TheXboxHub ranks the hunt second among that week’s easiest Playlist points, behind the photo challenge — so if you are going to do one thing in the last hour, it is a defensible pick, though nobody has published a minutes-per-point figure and neither will we.
Two things we are deliberately not going to tell you. First, whether a chest you have already uncovered but not smashed survives the rollover: that claim is repeated across guide sites and we could not find a single player report or official statement underneath it, so we do not repeat it either. Treat an uncovered chest as something to smash now rather than bank. Second, whether an old hunt can return in a later Series in the same place. Nangan hosting two hunts is a fact; a rule that says regions recycle is not, and we are not going to promote one into the other.
What survives the reset is the record. Every hunt we have managed to source stays readable afterwards — location, clue, reward and who found it — in the running archive of past hunts, which exists precisely because the outgoing week vanishes from the game and from the front pages of the sites that covered it.
The Thursday slot, week by week
Not the archive in a different font. The archive lists the hunts we have documented; this lists the weekly slot and asks whether anything was in it — which makes “this week had no hunt” and “we have no record of this week” two different rows instead of the same silence. 8 slots have a chest on the record, 2 are confirmed empty by a source, and the rest are blanks we are not going to fill with an average.
| Week | Slot | What was in it |
|---|---|---|
| 21 May · S1 SUMMER | logged | Ohtani — On the western path of the Kinkaku-Ji Temple, in the Ohtani Region. The first slot on the record. Relayed from the two write-ups on this row — we have not been back in game to re-check it. Game8 · Traxion.GG — Ohtani Region treasure hunt (21 May) |
| 28 May · S1 AUTUMN | logged | Minamino — Next to the top middle hole of the Minamino Golf Course. Relayed from a single location list. Nothing we can read describes what the search was actually like. Game8 |
| 4 Jun · S1 WINTER | no hunt | No Treasure Hunt this week. Game8 states it plainly rather than leaving a hole. Game8 — Treasure Hunt locations |
| 11 Jun · S1 SPRING | logged | Tokyo City — On a warehouse platform at the Tokyo City Docks. The one week where finding it was not the hard part: GamesRadar’s route is a climb over warehouse roofs and a steel girder bridge. It also called this the last hunt of Series 1. Game8 · GamesRadar+ — Tokyo City Treasure Hunt, updated 11 June 2026 |
| 18 Jun · S2 SUMMER | elsewhere | Nangan — the shore at the east of the region, near the Ford GT Treasure Car. Recorded by Game8, never written up as an entry here. Game8 — Treasure Hunt locations |
| 25 Jun · S2 AUTUMN | blank | We have nothing for this week — not a location, and not a source saying there was no hunt. Blank means unknown, not empty. No source yet. |
| 2 Jul · S2 WINTER | elsewhere | Sotoyama — a wooden hut in the snowy hills in the far north, near the Alpine Heights danger sign. PC Gamer — Sotoyama region Treasure Hunt |
| 9 Jul · S2 SPRING | logged | Ito — location not confirmed in our archive, and we are not going to retype a guess here instead Both write-ups on this row are readable and both put the chest in the same place — we have read them. Our archive entry still carries no location, so this row shows what the archive shows rather than what we could have retyped here; the two links are how you get the answer today. PC Gamer · Traxion.GG |
| 16 Jul · S3 SUMMER | logged | Nangan — location not confirmed in our archive, and we are not going to retype a guess here instead The week and the reward are sourced; the archive still carries no location. The reason we used to print here — that two write-ups disagreed — was wrong: they describe two different weeks in the same region, and the two that describe this week agree with each other. TheXboxHub — Series 3 Summer playlist (16–23 July) · Game8 · PC Gamer — Nangan region Treasure Hunt · ZillionGamer — Treasure Hunt locations in Forza Horizon 6 |
| 23 Jul · S3 AUTUMN | no hunt | No Treasure Hunt in the fourteen-entry challenge list for this week — the second confirmed empty slot of the game so far. TheXboxHub — Series 3 Autumn playlist (23–30 July) |
| 30 Jul · S3 WINTER | logged | Hokubu — On the side of a parking lot just northwest of the Shikisai-No-Oka flower garden, next to a large garage with water tanks and smaller hardware sheds beside it. The only week in this table we have re-checked in game ourselves, and the only one where a source states the points and the credits together. GamesRadar · Traxion.GG · ScreenRant · PC Gamer · TheXboxHub — Series 3 Winter playlist (30 July – 6 August) |
| 6 Aug · S3 SPRING | pending | The last week of Series 3. Whether the slot has a chest in it is not something we will claim before we can source it. No source yet. |
Narrow screen? The table scrolls sideways on its own — the page does not.
Six questions this page gets, and not the ones the others get
Written for the operational side — the mechanics, the deadline and the states this page can be in. The front page answers what the four different “treasures” are; the reset timer answers what time it is where you live. Running the same five questions on every page is its own kind of tell.
- Where is the Forza Horizon 6 Treasure Hunt this week?
- It changes every Thursday at 14:30 UTC, so the honest answer is whatever the status panel at the top of this page says at the moment you load it. When we have a location with a source behind it, it is in that panel and spelled out in the field procedure below. When the Playlist has just rolled over and we have not confirmed the new one, the panel says that instead of leaving last week’s answer up wearing this week’s label.
- Why does this page sometimes say the hunt is not confirmed?
- Because there is a real gap between the reset and a sourced answer, and pretending otherwise is how a page ends up sending people to a chest that is not there any more. The Playlist rolls at 14:30 UTC Thursday. Between that instant and the moment someone has actually found the new chest and written down where, nobody honestly knows. Most weekly articles fill that window with the previous week’s screenshot and a new date at the top. This page shows the gap.
- Does the game show a search area on the map?
- Not one we have seen, and not one any source describes. ZillionGamer’s walkthrough has the entry giving you the photograph and the region name and then leaving you to move around the map yourself — that is the whole of what it describes. Two others describe the consequence without calling it a rule: FinalBoss tells you to set the waypoint on the flower fields themselves “not on an assumed chest icon”, and PC Gamer’s Hokubu piece calls a wooden house next to a snow-covered road “a pretty broad search area”. That there is no circle and no proximity marker at all is our own observation on top of those, not a quote from any of them.
- How do I actually open the chest once I find it?
- You drive into it. FinalBoss puts it plainly for the Hokubu week: drive directly into the chest to break it open. There is no interact prompt, no button hold and no puzzle at the end. People do lose time circling a chest they have already found looking for a prompt that the game never shows.
- Is there a Treasure Hunt every single week?
- No. Two of the 12 weeks we have logged were confirmed empty rather than undocumented: Series 1 Winter, which Game8 states outright had no Treasure Hunt, and Series 3 Autumn, whose fourteen-entry challenge list — championships, a Drag Meet, a Speed Zone, a Speed Trap, the Eliminator — has no hunt among them. That is a small sample and we are not going to turn it into a rate. A quiet week is not a bug and it is not us being slow — it is the Playlist.
- Is the hunt worth 3 Playlist points or 2?
- Three. The disagreement turned out to be thinner than we first printed it, so here is the whole of it. TheXboxHub’s Series 3 Winter challenge list puts the Hokubu entry at 3 points and 100,000 credits — the only source that states both numbers together. Forza Horizon Hub independently lists the same entry at 3 points; its table carries no credit figure at all, so it corroborates the points and nothing else. PC Gamer wrote up three separate weeks and generalised every time — “as always” for Sotoyama, “as with previous weeks” for Nangan, “as usual” for Hokubu — three Festival Playlist points, 5,000 XP and 100,000 credits each time. GamesRadar mentions the 5,000 XP too, and Traxion’s Ito write-up closes with “the three points and 100,000 CR are yours”. The lone 2-point figure is ZillionGamer’s, and it is attached to the Minamino chest of May 2026, not to Hokubu — so it is not two people disagreeing about one week, it is one older week counted differently, and we have no way to tell whether that is an error or a week that really paid less.
What is holding this page up
Everything below was opened and read before it was cited, and re-opened on 6 August 2026 to check the labels still match what the pages say. Three corrections came out of that pass, and they are printed here rather than folded in quietly.
One. This page used to say that Traxion, PC Gamer and the Forza wiki had “refused to serve us a page”. That was right about one of the three and wrong about the other two, which is worse than it sounds, because we had put two working newsrooms on a list of people who had turned us away. Traxion and PC Gamer both serve their full articles to an ordinary request — we have since read them end to end, and they are now linked from four rows of the log above, including the 2 Jul and 9 Jul rows a couple of screens up from where we were calling them unreachable. The Forza wiki really is closed to us: it answers with a challenge page and a 403, so we still do not cite it. What happened is that one of our own fetches failed once and we wrote our failure up as somebody else’s refusal, then generalised it to two outlets we had never retried.
Two. Two of the links below are rotating — evergreen addresses that always show the current week rather than the week we cite them for. They are marked as such, with the date we last looked, because a label on a rotating URL is only true on the day it is written. This is not hypothetical: the GamesRadar link below was labelled 21 May for weeks, while the article itself calls its week “the spring week”, “the last Treasure Hunt of the Series”, and dates its expiry to 18 June — three weeks out, and contradicting our own table two screens up. Weekly articles that quietly change under a fixed date are the thing this page exists to complain about, and we had done it to ourselves.
Three. The Hokubu flower fields. FinalBoss spells them Shikisai-No-Aka six times and GamesRadar once; PC Gamer spells them Shikisai-no-Oka, which is the standard romanisation of 四季彩の丘, and that is what this site prints. We are flagging it rather than correcting it in silence, because a page that names other outlets’ mistakes should say when it has overruled one — and because two independent outlets writing Aka is enough that we would not bet on which spelling the game itself uses on screen. We have not been able to check that.
The “data last changed 2026-08-06” line at the top is derived from the entries themselves — the latest date on which a row here was written down or a hunt was re-checked in game. It is not the date this site was last deployed, and it does not move forward when a Thursday passes. If the Playlist has rolled over and that date has not, the two together are telling you something true: nothing new has been confirmed yet.
- FinalBoss.io — Hirosaki Castle photo and the Hokubu Treasure Hunt — that you open the chest by driving into it, that you should waypoint the landmark rather than an assumed chest icon, that the Hokubu chest sits between the northern highway and the internal white road rather than in the open centre of the fields, and that the Winter week was scheduled to end around 6 August
- ZillionGamer — Treasure Hunt locations in Forza Horizon 6 — the menu path to the entry (Main Menu → Festival Playlist → Current Season → Treasure Hunt), that the entry shows the photograph and the region name, and that the game leaves you to move around the map yourself. It is also the only source we can read that puts a hunt at 2 points rather than 3 — attached to the Minamino chest of May 2026, not to Hokubu
- Forza Horizon Hub — Festival Playlist (rotating weekly page) rotating URL — shows the current week, read 2026-08-06 — the Hokubu entry being worth 3 points, independently of TheXboxHub — its Playlist table carries points only, and there is no credit figure anywhere on that row, so it corroborates the 3 points and nothing about the 100,000 CR. It is also where the reward thresholds (20 and 40 points for the weekly cars, 80 and 160 for the Series cars) and the “09:30 ET, which is 06:30 PT” reset wording come from
- Game8 — Treasure Hunt locations — the Series 2 Summer chest on the shore east of Nangan, and Series 1 Winter having no Treasure Hunt at all
- GamesRadar+ — Tokyo City Treasure Hunt, updated 11 June 2026 rotating URL — shows the current week, read 2026-08-06 — a chest becoming *unavailable* at a stated reset time — “this chest will become unavailable from 2:30pm UTC on June 18”, the only third-party statement of the deadline we have found written down for a specific week. The same article is where the 5,000 XP on top of the credits comes from
- TheXboxHub — Series 3 Winter playlist (30 July – 6 August) — the Hokubu entry at 3 points and 100,000 credits — the only source that states both numbers together. It is also the one that ranks the week’s activities by effort, listing the Treasure Hunt second among the easiest Playlist points behind the Photo Challenge
- Destructoid — seasons & reset — the Thursday 14:30 UTC reset that this whole page is timed against
- Forza Wiki — Festival Playlist — the Thursday 14:30 UTC reset that this whole page is timed against
Where to go from a status page
The FH6 Treasure Hunt, and the three things it gets confused with
This page assumes you already know which collectible you are looking for. If a “treasure” you were told about is not where anyone says, the front page sorts out the four separate things this game calls treasure before you waste an evening on the wrong one.
Every week that has already expired
The moment the countdown above hits zero, this week joins that table — with its sources, and with an honest note on whether we went and looked ourselves.
What 14:30 UTC Thursday is where you are
The deadline in this page is a UTC instant. The timer converts it to your own clock and tells you whether daylight saving shifts it twice a year where you live — for a lot of the world the reset lands on Friday.
Step three, worked through on real photographs
The step above says find the one rare object in the frame. This is that method applied to the hunts already in the archive, so it is still useful after the picture changes.
The ten regions, and what searching each one is like
Once the entry has given you a region name you have already eliminated most of Japan. Snow country, coast and city each hide a chest differently, and the region pages say how.
You drove there and there was no chest
Six symptoms with six different causes — including the two where the widely-quoted fix traces back to nobody at all.
