Shimanoyama
No chest on record here · 9 landmarks both sources agree on · 20 mascots
Region facts below are second-hand, sourced inline. Never re-checked in game. Why that matters.
Shimanoyama is 島ノ山地域 in a Japanese client
島ノ山地域は、マップ西側に位置する沿岸エリア。
One source only, and Japanese search does not suggest it alongside 宝探し. 地域一覧.
West coast, or forest and river — the sources split
Forests, rivers and hills, with the Day Trip speed zones.
VGC calls it a pretty big region, needed two screenshots for it, and found the collectibles fairly evenly split between the south and the north.
9 named places both lists put in Shimanoyama
- Shimanoyama Drift Circuit
- Horizon Stadium
- Yoshinoyama
- Narai-Juku
- Minami Awa Double Road
- Bandai Azuma Skyline
- Izu Skyline
- Peace Torii
- Lake Viewing Platform
mapmaster.io lists two more here that Game8 does not: Shibazakura Lawn Cherry Fields and Fuji Shibazakura. Those read like two names for one flower field, which would make it one extra landmark rather than two.
20 mascots, evenly split north and south
20 mascots, themed on Curry Rice, out of 200 across the map. One barn find: the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, behind the Pink Stamp.

No chest has been set in Shimanoyama
Shimanoyama is the region that caught out our own first draft. The region list we started from had split the name into two regions, Shimanoa and Yama, and we published it. It is also the only region whose Japanese name rests on a single source, and the English and Japanese descriptions do not agree: our English sources put forests, rivers and hills here, while Gamerch describes a coastal area on the west side of the map. Both could be true of a large region. We are not going to pick one.
The Playlist has not put a chest here in any week we have recorded. That is unsurprising for a region we could not spell correctly two days ago — but the absence is ours as much as the game’s: our record begins partway through Series 1.
The archive has the 6 we do have.
Asked about Shimanoyama
Is this the region sometimes written as Shimanoa, or as Yama?
Neither is a real region. Those two names came from a region list we used and then withdrew — it had split Shimanoyama in half, misspelled two other regions and omitted Legend Island entirely. The blog post on this site explains how that got through.
How confident are you in the Japanese name?
Less than for the other nine. 島ノ山地域 comes from one Japanese source. Every other region name here has a second one behind it. Until that changes, treat it as unconfirmed.
Where would a hunt most likely sit in a region this size?
We are not going to guess. What we can say is that the collectibles are spread evenly north to south rather than clustered, so nothing about the layout suggests one half is the searchable half.
Where the bad region list did its other damage
Takashiro
The other large region built around driving roads and a circuit, and the one whose landmark list the sources also cannot fully agree on.
Legend Island
The region our withdrawn source left out entirely, while inventing two here. The same list got both errors at once.
Ito
The east coast to this region’s west, if Gamerch’s coastal description is the right one. Both took VGC two screenshots to cover.
Chest not showing up?
If you are searching a region this size on a bad clue, it is worth ruling out the three things FH6 calls treasure before you commit an hour to it.
